Who prices these things?

I'm just looking at a Best Buy ad and a DVD burner is $150 after rebate. Its only been 2 years since a regular DVD player was like at least $200, right? WTF? I see progressive scans are like $90. But what's the point? Prog scan tvs are still like $2000 so why do I need a $90 player? I don't get it, but I want to find a cheap 16:9 progressive scan screen. Just for gamecube of course...
