Congratulations Metallica

There's how many of you on stage and yet you can't make Seven Nation Army sound as good as two people? It took me half the show to realize that the redneck in the trucker cap in the crowd they kept showing was that Metallica guy.

Having now watched the whole awards, they really kinda blew.

So really, could anyone explain to me why what would be one of the best songs I've heard in years gets ruined in the middle by Jay-Z? It just isn't necessary. Of course, I don't even know what the lyrics are, so maybe it's important or something, but really, is there no way to get a mix where it just skips over him?
